Telemedicine - Premier Pediatric Urgent Care Provider in Texas - Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care

Telemedicine! It’s everywhere. It’s fast, easy, and convenient!

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, we began offering telemedicine to our patients as a way to obtain care without leaving the comfort of their homes. For pediatric patients, this can be a wonderful way to treat certain conditions that do not require a more thorough evaluation.

Commonly treated illnesses using the telemedicine services are allergies, pink eye, rashes, minor abrasions, mild colds, swimmer’s ear, vomiting or diarrhea without concern for dehydration and other minor symptoms. We can also schedule a COVID-19 test for your child provided they do not need to be evaluated by a provider for other reasons. A great example of this would be a COVID-19 test before traveling.

There are certain things that need an in-person assessment such as prolonged fever or cold symptoms, ear pain not related to swimmers ear, asthma symptoms, chest pain, urinary tract infections, injuries that may need a x-ray, or lacerations that may need repair. There is always a chance your child could be referred to a clinic for an in-person visit if deemed necessary. While we know that can be frustrating, for certain conditions it is extremely important we look at your child’s ear, listen to their heart, or take a closer look at a laceration before we can determine a plan of care. All we want is to provide the best care to your child.

Our providers typically do not provide antibiotics via telemedicine so that we are adhering to the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines. We will try to assess your child to the best of our ability and get them the care they need to get them feeling better fast!
