FAQs

About COVID19

COVID-19 symptoms in children can range from mild to moderate, and in some cases, children may not show any symptoms at all. However, the most commonly reported symptoms include:

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Sore throat

  • Runny or stuffy nose

  • Fatigue

  • Headache

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Loss of taste or smell (less common in younger children)

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

Because many of these symptoms overlap with the common cold or flu, it’s important to have your child evaluated, especially if they’ve been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or are showing multiple symptoms.

If your child is experiencing trouble breathing, persistent chest pain, confusion, or bluish lips or face, our kids urgent care providers can perform a COVID-19 test and offer treatment.

At Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care, we offer several types of COVID-19 testing:

  • On-site rapid antigen testing: Results are available in as little as 15 minutes.

  • PCR send-out testing: This test is sent to a lab and typically returns results within 2–4 days. It’s highly accurate and often used when confirmation is needed.

  • COVID-19 antibody testing: This blood test detects antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 and can help determine if your child had a past infection or recently received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Whether your child is seen in person at one of our pediatric walk-in clinics or through telemedicine, the provider will recommend the most appropriate type of COVID-19 testing based on their symptoms and medical history.

Yes! At Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care, your child can still receive a COVID-19 test without insurance. We offer a private pay option for $175, which is an all-inclusive rate. This covers the COVID-19 test as well as any additional testing or evaluation that may be needed during your visit.

It’s best to keep your child home from school if they are showing any COVID-like symptoms, even if they are mild. Symptoms such as a sore throat, low-grade fever, cough, congestion, or fatigue could be early signs of COVID-19 or another contagious illness.

To help prevent the spread of infection to classmates and teachers, our urgent care for kids team can assess your child’s symptoms and perform COVID-19 testing if needed.

We offer rapid testing and same-day care to help you make informed decisions about when it’s safe for your child to return to school.
