Cuts, Scrapes, and Stitches
We take care of all kinds of cuts and scrapes at Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care. Apply firm pressure to any cut with a clean cloth or tissue. If it bleeds through, do not replace the cloth, but apply more on top. If you are not sure if your child needs stitches or any other kind of laceration repair, bring them to Little Spurs for evaluation.
FAQs
We can repair lacerations using stitches, glue, or staples.
If it has been a significant period of time since the injury occurred, the child might not receive stitches. We still recommend bringing them in to be evaluated and possibly receive antibiotics.
Yes, if your child needs a tetanus shot for an injury, we can administer the shot. We do not give tetanus shots as a stand alone service.
No. We do not perform sedation. We do numb the wound before repairing. If your child needs to be sedated for a laceration repair, they will be referred to the emergency room.
